Elizabeth and Alex chose to host an intimate ceremony at the bride’s childhood home, sharing the most idyllic Chicago backyard wedding with their closest friends and family. The delicate pastel and verdant green shades of the wedding party’s bouquets and boutonnieres, gowns and ties echoed the lush landscape surrounding the ceremony site and tented reception venue. Elizabeth explained why her home was the perfect wedding location: “I spent my summers as a kid running around the yard with our dogs, swimming in the pool, and fishing and looking for frogs in the pond. It’s so fun to watch my little nieces and nephews now having the same childhood experiences there… at the end of the day we really just wanted everyone to feel comfortable and at home – and to have a lot of fun!”
The ceremony site sported a grand flowering arch to frame the couple as they shared their vows. Flower girls in pastel pink wore floral crowns as they frolicked down the aisle alongside bow tied ring bearers. The family dog made a sweet appearance with the bride before she walked down the aisle.
In the golden hour of summer evening, the newlyweds joined family and friends under a candlelit tent while the nieces and nephews played tag on the lawn. Such a relaxing atmosphere of fun was created with a live band to stir the dance floor and a basket of flip-flops to comfort sore feet!
